Rob Tharpe brings 20 years of construction experience from several of the top general contracting firms in the country. Rob obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in 1986, followed by a Master’s in Construction Management from Colorado State University in 1989. After graduation, Rob entered the construction industry with Hensel Phelps Construction Company where he began as a field engineer on a complex prison facility in Bakersfield, California. His career with Hensel Phelps continued when he moved into a Project Engineer position on a $55 million design/build project for the Natural Resources Agency of Washington State and later on a $50 million water treatment plant project in Herndon, VA.
In 1994, Rob moved back to his hometown of Atlanta, where he joined Beers Construction Company. During Rob’s career with Beers, he rose from Project Engineer to the position of Group Vice President of the Government and Education Sector. In 2004, Rob joined Brasfield & Gorrie General Contractors, where he again proved his ability to satisfy even the most demanding clients with the successful completion of the new $42 million Women’s and Outpatient Surgery Center at DeKalb Medical Center in Decatur, Georgia. His experience includes projects which required phased turn-over, competitive bid, CM at-risk and design/build delivery methods, totaling over $500 million.
Since Rob joined UHS, he has utilized his excellent leadership and communicative skills to manage complex institutional projects, totaling over 2,000 on-campus beds. Rob is extremely responsive to client needs, which he has proven project after project.
As Vice President of Operations for UHS, Rob is directly responsible for the seamless integration of the Owner’s stated program into the finished facility and is personally involved in all aspects of each Project.
