Mills Promoted to President & COO

University Housing Services (UHS), Inc., announced today the promotion of Robert M. Mills as President and Chief Operating Officer. Current President, William Mills, Jr., who founded UHS in 1992, will remain as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
Most recently Bob Mills served as Executive Vice President of UHS, where he was responsible for the operational efficiency of the development process and was personally involved in all aspects of each project. He has been directly involved in more than $300 million of on-campus development projects since joining the firm in 2002.
The shift in leadership comes at a time when the student housing industry has been faced with the ongoing challenge of finding viable ways to implement increasing demands for student housing with shrinking college budgets and financing options. In his new role, Bob will focus his efforts on growing UHS’ core student housing business by expanding both the company’s service offerings and geographic reach.
“Bob has proved himself as a true leader over the years at UHS in helping to expand and refine the UHS brand, and he brings renewed energy to the table,” said Bill Mills. “He will provide the talent and skill sets needed to surmount this economic challenge in the same style that has allowed UHS to become one of the most highly regarded student housing developers in the country.”
A graduate from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction in 1987, Bob Mills brings more than 20 years of construction expertise and insight to his work. Before joining UHS, Bob worked for Beers Construction Company for 10 years, most recently as Group Vice President where he was responsible for meeting all the construction needs of both public and private higher-education institutional clients.
Prior to establishing UHS, Bill Mills was Owner, Chairman and President of Federal Construction Company from 1982 to 1991, which became one of the largest construction management firms in the southeastern United States.
