Americus - The second phase of Geogia Southwestern State University's thirty-million dollar residence hall construction is in full swing.

Construction crews continue the removal of Peyton Jacob Hall an older, outdated dormitory. A two-hundred-and thirty one bed modern apartment style living center will replace the old hall.

On the other side of the campus the first phase of the residence hall construction is nearly complete and will be ready for fall, much to the delight of faculty and students.

"It's exciting for all of us, it's great for the students to have some new facilities to live in, and it's great for the campus as a whole to. Because it represents the last major construction project that we have planned for the last ten years" said GSW President Dr. Michael Hanes.

Georgia Southwestern students have been heavily involved in the housing project, and will even be choosing the furniture in the new facilities.
